Haters Gonna Hate
In my video, I’m going to give you the run down on how to use a projector for a mural drawing (my method). “BuT tHat’S CheAtinG.” Shut up. No its not. In fact, there are soooo many artists who use projectors not only for murals, but also for canvas work and various other things. Artists you know, love and respect use use them. NORMAN ROCKWELL—an American legend for painting and illustration—used a projector. Using one does NOT mean you are not an artist, this does NOT mean you’re cheating in any way, and it does not take away from your skill. So you tell those haters to stfu!
Lets Fuggin Goooo
I know when I first started doing murals I was so intimidated by scaling-up my work and had no idea using an inexpensive projector was an option. This method is great for beginners or those who have less time to complete a mural. The projector method on my small wall (mine is roughly 100 sq/ft) took me less than an hour to draw (not including the time it took to record this video).
There are many ways to scale up mural drawings—doodle grids, regular measured grid systems, etc. But I am going to show you this one, quick and easy way to do it.
So here it is! Instead of creating a long drawn out document, I created a quick 10 minute tutorial that can be watched below or on my YouTube channel.

Stay tuned for a more advanced method of scaling up your drawings: doodle grids! I’ll show you how I took a 1 x 6 inch drawing and turned it into a 600 sq/foot mural!
